56. Marmont – Philadelphia, USA

Cocktail – Fish House Punch
Brandy, golden rum, peach brandy, lemon, sugar, cold breakfast tea, soda

Date Visited – Dec 2015

The last to be ticked off for 2015, not nearly as eventful as La Capilla, but that would take some beating! Located in the historic part of town, I popped into the Benjamin Franklin Post Office to send my postcards on the way to Marmont. I got there at opening so it was quiet, but they appeared to be setting up for a staff Christmas Party so it was probably fortunate I was there early, especially as I was only in Philadelphia for the one day! Service was very friendly, they didn’t have the Fish House Punch on the menu, but it’s like asking for a Sazerac in New Orleans, most bartenders will know how to make one. Legend has it that it was created in 1732 at Philadelphia’s fishing club – the State in Schuylkill, also known as the Fish House. I had it by the glass rather than the bowl, and accompanied it with a Philly Cheese Steak, the gourmet version, better quality steak than the street vendors!
