25. Baraza – Cape Town, South Africa

Cocktail – Diamond Ring
Zubrowka Bison Grass Vodka, apple, honey, basil

Date Visited – Feb 2011

Obligatory 2 week contract break from work, so airmiles redeemed and holiday booked! I’ve abseiled table mountain and jumped out of a plane, so now it’s time to take it easy in Camps Bay and tick off those TWO cocktails! Not sure why Cape Town should be graced with this privilege when London isn’t, I guess there were too many to choose from! Baraza has since changed name to Sapphire, I’ve learnt my lesson now though so I travel with print-outs! The recipe is given to the bartender and he takes great pleasure in making it for me, fortunately the attached restaurant can supply the basil! He doesn’t have the Zubrowka Vodka though so I choose a Polish substitute, a mistake as it overpowers the basil, his opinion also. It’s presented as per the picture and is a bargain at £2, we discuss my quest and he’s very envious. Baraza is Swahili for ‘meeting place’ and even with the name change it still lives up to this, especially during happy hour.
