Everyone knows you don’t spend long in Bangkok before heading to the islands, and the book has dictated Koh Samui so a bungalow is booked on Bophut Beach. Unfortunately the bar is no longer there so I select an alternative Rasta bar and Bangladesh Charlie does the best he can with the ingredients. Bophut was quite sleepy even in high season and this was the only bar with any atmosphere, even if just from the tourists, including French Stephanie my drinking pal for the next 4 nights, conveniently also on Koh Tao, which I much preferred to Samui.
